I had the pleasure of interviewing the poet, Ron Padgett, in his Manhattan apartment this week. I recall laughing much of the time, though I certainly learned a few things along the way. He also read some poems from You Never Know (Coffee House Press), which are at the end of part two of the interview.

    January 29th, 2006 at 8:03 pm eThe Padgett interview was so nice to listen to over breakfast this morning. It was clear that it was not just an interview, but a conversation between old friends. MiPo is like Reading Rainbow for the fully-grown. But, oh no! I didn’t know I would be quoted verbatim. For the record, “Fixation” is read in our house because it is indeed lovely, one of my all-time favorite poems — it takes all of the unfounded righteous privilege out of the the crucifixion story and makes it human, plausable, liberating, and spiritual…even for a household of of atheists. Now excuse me as I must run to tell T that we are now just three degrees of seperation from Frank O’Hara. Please wish Doggie a Happy 4703.
